Chinese New Year celebration takes place in Sanam Chai to welcome the Dragon Year under the arrangement of Phuket Provincial Administration Organization (OrBorJor). This free event will start at 7:35 PM by performing stunning acrobatic show from China’s Henan province while it is following by fireworks at 8:35 PM. It also glittered by musical performances from Rattapoom “Film” Tokonsup, Fay Fang Kaew and Noewy from the band Sinyorrita.
The cheering event aiming to honor HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, HM Queen Sirikit and HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn. Under the name of Spring Festival, this New Year celebration is the most important festival in Chinese calendar. The participants were Chinese descent families in Phuket who celebrated Chinese New Year yesterday.
The celebration started by cleaning houses to clean out bad luck and welcoming good things. The houses then decorated with red paper for delivering health, good fortune and a long life. It is also happening on the house of Phuket Chamber of Commerce Vice President Jirawit Pitikulsathit whose family paid respect to their ancestors at Sunday. Following China tradition, they were enjoying special evening meal that consists of duck, pork, chicken and sweets.
Currently the houses now brightened by red lanterns as it hoped to bring a good luck. Red atmosphere is also appeared on Chinese shrines in Phuket Town. Chinese Thais and tourists had celebrated this new year by paying respect to their ancestors. It is also happening on some companies in Phuket Town as they were setting tables in front of their company for their workers who want to pray for a good year to start. This morning children were respecting their parents by wishes them healty and happiness while hoping some money in red paper envelopes called ang pao.
